antique periwinkle star quilt restoration project.

======================  the underfly co.

origin: Antique quilt top found in basement of a family home in the Midwestern U.S. in 2018. Likely created in the 1930’s, the pattern is usually called a 4-point periwinkle star/hummingbird design (or sometimes called snowball or crazy star). The top was fully complete and in surprisingly good condition overall (minimal stains/discoloration and no mold/smell), but beginning to fray in some spots due to the unfinished state and age of fabric.

dimensions: 72″ wide, by 81″ long (183 cm wide, by 206 cm long)

scope: [[PROJECT IN PROGRESS]] Original antique quilt top (found intact, hand pieced/hand sewn) stabilized with a layer of cotton under top, white in color with brighter white plus sign design. Batted with 80% cotton/20% polyester blend. Backed with a layer of cotton, medium gray in color with bright white plus sign design and faint texture print. Binding in same medium grey as the backing fabric.
